Food Data Market is an inclusive marketplace fostering new economic models for sustainable food supply chains based on data. It leverages key benefits of distributed ledger technologies (trust, neutrality, and inclusiveness) while keeping the key advantages of participants intact by employing a privacy-by-design approach that enables farmers and cooperatives to regain control of their data, give it a price tag, and sell it to interested partners in the supply chain.
We believe in an inclusive marketplace for sustainable food production, equitable distribution of gains, and digital sovereignty of citizens and farmers.
The Data marketplace is open-source software infrastructure that utilizes the OriginTrail protocol and the Ethereum blockchain. It is an open-for-all system, operating a peer-to-peer marketplace without central authorities that would present themselves as intermediaries or data aggregators. It enables data sellers to get compensated for sold datasets in a secure manner, utilizing strong encryption, data integrity enforcing mechanisms and the trusted execution capabilities of the underlying consensus layer of the Ethereum blockchain.
The Food Data Market app provides a human-centric user interface envisioned to enable both individuals and organizations to offer and be compensated for their data, as well as a place to browse and buy data of their interest.

Start by selecting the marketplace you wish to browse. Food Data Market presents you with a variety of different datasets across different categories: Sensor Data, Geo Data, Traceability Data, Certificate Data, Production Data, Master Data, Transportation Data, Raw Data and more.
To buy a particular dataset simply click preview and price (set by the data seller) will be automatically fetched and displayed. Click Initiate purchase to start and be patient since the sole process of purchasing can take some time due to the nature of DLT technologies. You can always track the current status of all your purchases on the Purchased Data page as well as by checking the status field on the right side of the top menu.
To sell data simply visit Datasets on Sale page and click the “Put Data on Sale” button to start the process. It is important to understand that each dataset consists of two main components. First one is, publicly visible, general information aimed to give more context about the content of the data one is selling. Second component is the private part of the datasets is the part you’re offering for compensation. It is accessible only to the ones who purchase the data you offer. Finally, you need to associate a price (in tokens) which can even be edited afterwards.
On the Datasets on sale page you are able perform all necessary actions such as Preview Data, Pause and Edit Price of each and every datasets.
Track all transactions on your node on the Activity page. Chronological order differentiates all different types of activities such as bought data, sold data and makes it easy to be up to date.
